For your event to appear in the search on the Shoobs homepage, the event's 'Privacy' field must be set to 'public'.
You can view this setting in the 'BASIC DETAILS' section when creating an event (see image below).
Also, please note that to publish an event, you must complete all of the sections when creating it (please see this article for more info).
If a section is missed, you'll come across a system message, preventing you from previewing or publishing (see image below).
